Trippy Wicked

Movin On, released 30th October 2009, is the debut album by DIY stoner sleaze rock trio Trippy Wicked & the Cosmic Children of the Knight.
It's a 10 track, 52 minute epic musical journey of songs about living the good life, fire, growing beards, girls, aliens, loneliness, pirates, love and so much more. Movin On is full of the sexiest, sleaziest stoner, doom, blues, whatever-the-hell-you-wanna-call-it riffs you ever heard and was recorded in June 2009 under the warm Dorset sunshine at Chuckalumba studios.

We received an email, stating that we needed to check out this band. I'm glad I did. Not only can this band totally pound your ears with sludgy-goodness, they can also lull you in to a warm place. Hence, why I put up 2 vids, above. They are all over the map when it comes to their vocals and lyrics, though I appreciate their fine tuned skills and attention to detail. Get their album, its free. Check out their website and what not. I'd have to say, I would totally go see these guys live.

Helium

Helium came about in 92'.
The sultry vocal tones mixed with trailing melodies makes it easy to fall into this style of music. Great when you want to space out or just relax too.

Most tracks are from "The Dirt of Luck" album.

Ween...

Ween came about in 84'.
 Gene and Dean Ween.

If you have never heard Ween before... you're missing out. My description of it will surely not shed any light on this band.  I sometimes really love Ween and sometimes some of their stuff annoys me. Then again, I'm sort of a music nazi and analyze everything I hear. Well this band has always been know to record in low-fi, carry strange lyrics or a combination of melodies that pick at you with pleasure, and eccentric vocals.

This is a mixture of various albums with select tracks, I deem worthy in my personal collection.

Dirty Talker

Dirty Talker is a 3 piece band out of Lincoln, NE.
The band consists of:
Adam 2000 on guitar & synth, Justin Kohmetscher on bass and vocals, and Brendan McGinn on drums.

It's not easy to describe this band as it's a mix of the most interesting and intellectual lyrics, a touch of slowed math-rock, some almost funk rhythms. It's refreshing hell of a mix. I saw these guys play Oct. 16 2009 in Jefferson, SD, where we were putting on a show for Shiny Grey Monotone. I expected to hear a band called Dean Armband, instead the same guys decided to start a different kind of band and would be playing as Dirty Talker. With in the first 30 seconds of hearing their first song, which I don't recall what it was... I was tapping my feet and swaying like a moron to their lathery guitar, and rich plucky bass. I actually never really understood what they where singing about when I heard them live, though they put on a hell of a show. Afterwards, I got more songs of theirs and started to dissect my new found music.  I really dug them. I talked to them a bit at the show and talked to them through Facebook. I requested them to do a cover of one of my favorite songs... Mailman originally by The Jesus Lizard. I fell in love with them after they said yes.

I realize this might not be for everyone and that the quality of these recordings are low budget at times but I think they're a well put together band that can hold my attention and I dig. My favs are: Mailman, Yea,can., and Stay Away. I know that those track names might not be right because I didn't get a song list.. but yea, good stuff.

You can check out their Facebook: Dirty Talker.

Who are we and why are we here?

So if your just finding us and you have no clue what we represent or you've found us from Shiny Grey Monotone, we are the brand new sister blog of Shiny Grey Monotone, which features some of the best and hard to find alternative noise rock. We decided to create this blog, because though we love alternative noise rock, sometimes other genres of music deserve to be heard and spread throughout the world. Here is where we'll be doing just that.

If you have a band and wanna send us your stuff, you can email us or send us physical copies. We'll give em' a listen and most likely give you a write up and share some tunes with our readers.

Welcome, everyone. We hope you will enjoy our new site. As always, leave us comments and feel free to mingle in the forum.
